Grey Seal

Marine Life and Sea Creatures Tag
As you all may or may not know, I'm a huge fan of all marine animals! Therefore I participate in the "marine life and sea creatures" tag from time to time. Always wonderful to receive cards like this one. It shows a grey seal. Actually they live on german coasts as well I guess... we call them "Kegelrobbe" in German, which means "cone-seal" literally translated (because of their conical snout).
The card also gives some information on its back:

"A seal-watcher's paradise. The Royal Air Force (RAF) bombing range at Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast is temporary home to over 3,000 grey seals that come ashore each winter to give birth to their snowy-white pups. At the same time, the males fight over the right to sire the next generation. At weekends - when the RAF has time off - thousands of people flock here to get close and personal with one of Europe's true wildlife spectacles."

Many thanks for the great card Päivi! :)

Harp Seal

Marine Life and Sea Creature Tag
Seals are one of my favorite animals, so I join the Marine Life and Sea Creature tag from time to time, hoping to receive a seal card. On Friday I found this beauty in my mailbox. The card shows a Harp Seal and gives some information on its back:

"As soon as the female Harp Seal weans her pup, she is ready to breed again with the promiscous males who have been anxiously waiting in large herds on nearnby ice flows. Courtship begins on the ice with males enticing the females to mate by calling, blowing bubbles, pawing and chasing the females down. Mating typically takes place in the water and a female will often mate with more than one male. As a result the female is typically pregnant for eleven months of the year."

Thanks for sending me this lovely card!
